Brief Description

The YFM Wednesday Night Dinner is a dinner and metaphysical discussion forum for 6th to 12th graders. Using teen-oriented publications, such as “Lessons in Truth for Teens,” the Uniteens and YOUers lead the discussion while learning and growing together by engaging in an affirmative inquiry process. This weekly events allow the ministry to foster teen involvement even if they are no longer available for Sunday services.

Purpose

The purpose of the YFM Wednesday Night Dinner is to offer an opportunity for the Uniteens and YOUers to connect outside of a Sunday schedule. Experience since the pandemic showed that Sundays are no longer ideal for the teenagers to meet and focus on their spirituality. By offering a mid-week alternative, the ministry is able to connect with their youngest congregants in a casual and supportive settings.

How Does It Work?

  • A weekly dinner on Wednesday evenings is held from 5:30 to 7 PM.

    • Dinner may include simple foods, such as pizza, Chinese food, etc.

    • The YFM director and at least one more adult are present (two-adult rule)

      • Often, parents may volunteer and participate

    • The occasional visit of your senior and/or associate ministers

    • Any 6th to 12th graders from your ministry are welcome

  • The metaphysical discussion includes

    • a teen-focused book or topic (e.g., Lessons in Truth for Teens)

    • everyone’s participation (incl. parents)

  • Additionally, field trips may extend the impact of the YFM involvement
